All smiles!

I am not sure if the title applies more to Angela and I or to Dillon because he is smiling all of the time now. I am supposed to be working on a mid-term right now but I am putting it off (probably due to the anxiety that taking mid-terms usually produce). So as a result of my procrastination I thought that I would share with you an adorable picture of Dillon right after one of his baths the other day. He did not like his baths the first couple times, but now they are like the highlight of his day (when he gets them).

Here are a couple other pics of Dillon smiling.

I swear this kid is going to be a big heart breaker one day!

Picture update

There has not been too much going on up here lately so we thought we would update our blog with a few pictures.

These are a few pictures of last weekend when we were in the valley at Angela's parent's house. If you look closely he is making that funny face because he has some spit-up dripping down his cheek in the first picture. We love the funny faces he makes.

We love the look of his face in this picture. Dillon always lifts his eyebrows up like this.

Over Labor Day Becky and Tyler came up to Flagstaff and stayed at our house for a couple days. We got these cute pictures of their baby Lowe and Dillon together. It is crazy they are only a few months apart and Lowe looks so big next to Dillon.

Dillon got to see his cousins over Labor Day weekend as well. They were all so excited to hold him.

Dillon loves to put his hand up to his face like this when he is sleeping. He always looks so peaceful when he is asleep.

Dillon's bath and more pictures

We had to post some pictures from Dillon's first full bath today. Unfortunately he did not like it too much as you can see from the pictures.

He is looking at us like we betrayed him or something. Every time we look at this picture we can't help but crack up. (I know we must be terrible parents)

He has the cutest little body!

This is what we call "Milk Drunk" when we are burping him.

We love his hair.

He loves to stick out his legs like this. Look at those cute rolls on his thighs.

Warning: Long but adorable post ....

*Note: This is like the fifth time I that I have sat down to write this. I keep getting distracted by how cute Dillon is and then I end up putting off writing this post so that I can play with him or help Angela out.

Well I have been meaning to give you all an update on how Dillon is doing and give a little account of how the labor and delivery went for Angela.
Well on Saturday morning we went down to the hospital for Angela to be induced. Neither of us could sleep Friday night. It was like the ultimate "night before Christmas" jitters. So we got to the hospital around 7:30 in the morning and they gave Angela the prostaglandin gel around 8:00 to induce labor. They decided to induce her because she has had high blood pressure for the past few visits and she finally hit the 39 week mark. When they gave her the prostaglandin gel she had to lay down for an hour then get up and walk around for an hour then they would repeat this process again. After the first application of the gel Angela started to feel her contractions increase in frequency and duration but they were still pretty light. Then around 10:00 am they gave her a second course of the gel. During that hour when she had to lay down we watched some Arrested Development on my laptop to help get her mind off of the growing contractions. She was actually able to sleep for some of this hour which was great! Then when 11:00 came around and she had to get up and walk around the contractions started to hit on full throttle. She was hardly able to take a single step before the next contraction would come. She was obviously in pain and there was not much that I could do. So the nurse came in our room and filled up the tub in the bathroom and turned on the jets so Angela was able to relax in the hot tub during this part of labor. Before going into labor Angela did not think she would like the hot tub but in the end it ended up being a lifesaver for her! She was really relaxed between contractions in there. After a couple hours of laboring in the tub we got out so the nurse could check to see how dilated she was. Angela was only 3 cm dilated at this point. She started off the day at about 1 1/2 cm dilated so we were thinking that this labor would be a long process. After getting out of the tub they felt like Angela's contractions were regular enough so they did not need to give her the third course of the prostaglandin gel. They also said that if she wanted an epidural that she could get one now because she was having strong frequent contractions. So the anesthesiologist came and gave Angela an epidural. They noticed that although her contractions were strong and frequent, they were not following a regular pattern. She would get like three back to back then a few minute interval followed by another cluster of contractions. So along with the epidural they gave Ang some pitocin to try to regulate her contractions more. Angela felt MUCH better after getting the epidural but after a few minutes she felt like she was not getting much relief on her right side. So they had her lay on her right side to have gravity help spread the medication to that side. After a little bit they had the anesthesiologist come back in and they gave Angela some more medication. Eventually her right side felt better but a portion on her left side started to hurt. She did feel much better overall though. She was very relaxed between contractions and the contractions were not nearly as bad as they were prior to the epidural. The nurses decided to check Angela again to see how dilated she was. We did not expect her to be very far along because it took us a while to get to 3 cm and since her contraction were not occurring in regular intervals they thought she would not be getting the most out of each contraction. Well they checked Angela and she was already 8 cm dilated! We expected her to be like 4 1/2 to 5 cm dilated because it had only been like 2 hours since they checked her and she was only 3 cm at that time. Her water had not broken yet but it was really close to breaking. They got our doctor and he broke her water and before we knew it she was already pushing! Angela only pushed for like 30 min before little Dillon Boyd Tenney was born! It was so crazy to see all of his hair coming out. They had a mirror which helped Ang a lot because she was able to see her progress after each push. After Dillon was born they put him on Angela's chest and cleaned him off. We were both instantly overcome with so much joy and emotion. We were also shocked at how much hair he had. He came in weighing 7lbs 8oz and about 19 3/4 in. He was born at 6:37pm which was much quicker than we expected since we were induced at 8:00am and did not start getting real strong contractions until around 11:00am. They figure that the epidural did not totally take because she was progressing so fast that it could not totally keep up. Well enough talking. I know you really just want to see some pictures of Dillon!

This is when we first got to the hospital before Angela was induced (notice she is still smiling)
This is Angela feeling much better after getting the epidural
This is a video of Angela explaining how she was doing after the epidural

One big happy family!

This is a video of Angela and Dillon shortly after Dillon was born

Some of these pictures are on facebook, but since not everyone has that I will repeat some of them.

How cute are they together?!
This is a picture I took just before writing this post. It gives you a good idea of how beautiful his eyes are. Isn't he so cute?!
Yesterday Dillon had his five day check up and they were surprised because he still weighed 7lbs 8oz. Usually they loose some of their birth weight by their first check up. Our pediatrician expected him to be like 6lbs 12 or 14oz. So he is feeding and pooping really well! He is so sweet and he sleeps most of the time. He is a really good baby. He usually only cries if he is hungry (which is a lot) or if he needs to be burped. Other than that he is pretty content most of the time. My parents came up the day after he was born and spent the day with us and Angela's mom came up here on Tuesday and will be here until Sunday. She has been such a big help. She helps take care of Dillon at night in between feedings so Angela can get some rest. It has been so nice!

Pregnancy Pics

Hey guys! We had some maternity pictures taken last month by my talented friend Beka (and second shooter hubby Brandon). They were taken at the Orange Groves in Mesa. We love them!

Here's the link:

So check it out!

Oh and a little baby update. We saw the doctor today and things are looking good. I'm officially 2 weeks away from my due date and baby is big and healthy. My blood pressure is a little too high I guess so I'm officially on bed rest, which I don't really mind! It is weird though because I don't have preeclampsia or anything and I feel pretty good, just tired of course. We see him again on Monday (my b-day coincidentally) and if it's still too high he will probably induce me. I don't know if it will be that day or anything, but he has said that he probably won't let me go past 39 weeks (I will be 38 weeks tomorrow) So baby may be coming very very soon! We are excited!

So, I keep looking at that little pregnancy ticker and the very small number of days left until I am due. Its kind of freaking me out! But really I am excited to have our little boy. I just can't believe how fast this last trimester has gone. It's a lot more fun when you aren't vomiting (sorry). I'm still working, although my boss has been out of town for the last week, so we all got the week off. Its been nice being a lazy bum and spending so much time with Gary. Pretty soon it won't be just the two of us anymore. We'll keep you updated on what's happening around here.

Oh and pretty big news, Gary was just offered a very cool teaching position at NAU. He was teaching an introductory course for freshman as a grad assistant last semester and thought that's what he would be doing this fall also. But, after interviewing him today, they offered him a position to teach the Developmental Psychology course. That's pretty big stuff.
Ya, my husband is pretty much awesome :)
